On Saturday, April 1st, I am in two Off-Off-Broadway shows of Listen to Your Mother, created and directed by Heather Christie.  We had a Zoom rehearsal today, and the cast is wonderful.  They are from all over the USA, so some are flying in to NYC to do the show.  The stories are powerful, diverse, and impacting.  The performances will take place at Theatre 71, 152 West 71st Street on April 1st at 3pm and 7pm.  Tickets are selling and it’s been recommended that you purchase tickets early.

  2. Upcoming Events!

    Saturday, February 25, 2023

Just returned from Miami Beach last night.  While I was away, NYC had weather in the balmy 50s.  I came back in time for freezing 20s.  I was lucky to get such a vacation.  A poetry friend was given a trip for two to Miami Beach as a birthday gift.  She asked me to join her – airfare and hotel paid for.  I was treated to the meals.  It was a total indulgence.  Though it was very nice to be somewhere warm in February and to have housekeeping service, I am glad to be home.  Home is not at all luxurious, but it is home.

    Now for local news:

Sunday, February 26th at 7pm -- The Prosettas (a group of four talented writers of prose and memoir) will be reading at BUS STOP CAFÉ, 597 Hudson Street in the West Village, NY, NY.  The series of readings is curated by Michael Graves.  Admission is free though a contribution of $5 is requested.  This event includes a limited open mic.  Feel free to bring something to share and sign up for the open.

  3. Good Stuff

    Sunday, January 22, 2023

Life continues to be interesting – full of surprises, some good and some not.  I had a very good evening with a cousin who’d been trying to get together with me for many years.  I had felt unable to do it for so long, not because of whom he is but more because of a very problematic family history.  Fortunately, he never gave up.  I also knew if I never gave it a chance, I’d regret it.

We got together last Friday night.  He treated me to dinner and drinks.  We talked for about five hours.  We both learned a lot of what we’ve each been through.  At no point did he deny my reality which had been a big concern for me.  Now I am looking forward to our next time getting together.

Now, for those of you who enjoy all kinds of art forms, I’ll be sharing my poetry at Evie Ivy’s “Dance of the Word.”  There will be other poets, possibly some prose, music, and most definitely belly dancers.  I love watching belly dancing.  I find it meditative.  Here are the details:

Time permitting, an open mic where you can perform!

  4. Things Going On

    Wednesday, January 11, 2023

I spent the past weekend working on an application for a grant for my memoir writing.  There are so many details to the applying process, and at times I felt like giving up.  I kept asking myself how I’d feel if I didn’t even enter the ring.  So I kept marching on.  I am so glad I did.  But it wasn’t stress-free, that’s for sure.  The winners will be announced in May.

Each time I push through something, I feel more capable for future opportunities.  I was left feeling proud, relieved, and mentally exhausted.  It also provided a justification for not doing housework that is piling up.  But the next day I needed to recover from lack of sleep.

On February 10th, I will be featured at Evie Ivy’s “Dance of the Word” in midtown, an event that has poetry, prose, music, and belly dancing.

On February 26th, I will be one of four features reading memoir at Michael Graves’ series at the Bus Stop CafĂ© in the West Village.  Both events include an open mic portion of the evening.  Feel free to come and share something with us.

The next comedy show at The Artist on City Island will be in March.  I will update you on the date and other details.  I hope the almost spring weather will make folks want to come out and enjoy.

I hope 2023 is going well for you.

    Much love to CGG-M  ❤❤❤

  5. Another December

    Sunday, December 25, 2022

On 12/21, I turned a new age.  I went out with two friends who gave me generous gifts, their company, good food, and many drinks.  Maybe because it was a weeknight (no re-routing; no track work), my train trip home was fast and easy.

Though I bought two boxes of Christmas cards, I never wrote them out or sent them.

I spent Christmas Eve awake all night watching Forensic Files’ “Twelve Crimes of Christmas.”

I spent all Christmas Day asleep.  When I went to the store, I was grateful it wasn’t windy.  The freezing temperatures are bad enough.

This year, the last night of Hanukkah is on Christmas night.  So tomorrow, both are behind us.

My holidays did not include any of this:

    or this:

    I remain grateful.

    Much love to CGG-M  ❤❤❤

  6.

                        No POC Allowed!

2023 is NOT the year for People of Color. Do not use POC or BIPOC around me. Save it for Asian, Latino, Afghan, Pacific Islander, Native American, or Semetic associates! Worse than Benign Neglect, these evil terms intentionally erase the continued systemic oppression of Descendants of America's Enslaved. BIPOC and POC sprinkled in conversation is virtue signaling confetti. Forget me with it! 7. Update on Friday 12/9/2022 COMEDY Show!

    Thursday, December 8, 2022

Hello, my dedicated readers!  I want to update you on Friday’s show.

The line-up changed a bit.  Here’s the new flier.

I am so glad about this line-up.  All are very funny.  One was the winner of

the Ladies’ Room Comedy Festival.  I saw another playing a badass defense

attorney on Law and Order.  One was the winner of this year’s Funniest

Jewish Comedian in NYC contest.  Then there’s me, Mindy Matijasevic,

whose comedy – with just a few bleeps – was aired on Fran Luck’s feminist

radio show on WBAI-FM, “Joy of Resistance."

    Laughter guaranteed.
