  1. Good News and Some Laughs

    Thursday, April 17, 2025

A nice bit of news – a poem of mine appears in this beautiful publication.  If poetry is not your thing, mine is five short lines so it should be bearable.  J  It’s the first poem in this issue.  Enjoy.

    First Literary Review East

Thank you Cindy Hochman and Karen Neuberg!  Also for the bonus of letting me know on New Year’s Eve that my poem was accepted.  What a nice ending to 2024.

For those of you who like to plan ahead, mark June 20th 8pm on your calendars for my comedy show on City Island.  For those of you intrigued by a trip to City Island, but wanted to go in the warm weather, mark your calendars for June 20th 8pm at The Artist, 249 City Island Avenue.  If you enjoy laughing, mark your calendar for June 20th 8pm.

Thanks to Cicely Brooks, here's a 1-minute snippet for your funny bone:

I did my early voting this evening.  The site was closer to me than my regular voting site, there were no long lines, and everyone working at the site had a beautiful attitude.  Plus a very nice looking man working there gave me a big smile as I was leaving.  So it was an uplifting experience.

And since I prefer a president who cares about us and has never been accused of rape, I’m in this final fundraiser on Saturday night.  All ticket sales ($10 in advance; $15 at the door) will be donated to Act Blue for Kamala Harris’ campaign.

A stand-up comedy benefit for Kamala Harris. Scheduled to perform: Jose Angel Diaz, Allen Enlow, Dana Friedman, Bob Greenberg, Paul Hallasy, Lisa Harmon, Susan Jeremy, Allan Landis, Mindy Matijasevic, Rob Sajous, Michelle Schwartzman and Gladys Simon.
$10 cover in advance, $15 cash cover at the door. In addition, there is a $20 per person minimum (food or beverage, credit cards accepted).
Doors open at 8:45pm and seating is first come first served. Please arrive early!
Buying tickets online is the only way to guarantee a seat. ADVANCE TICKETS ON SALE HERE: https://cur8.com/23871/project/126690
ALL COVER CHARGES WILL BE DONATED TO ACT BLUE FOR KAMALA HARRIS.

It’s an opportunity to donate, eat, drink, and laugh all at once.  Please vote, then pray, meditate, or whatever you do.

And if there is an island of garbage floating nearby, it’s probably from thousands of someone’s Big Mac Combo Meal litter.  I’d bet my rent money that he doesn’t recycle.  That would involve a conscience and caring.

One candidate’s spouse doesn’t even want anything to do with their shit anymore.  Not naming names, so if the shoe doesn’t fit, don’t squeeze your foot in it.

For the very first time in my life, I cared about the World Series.  GO YANKEES!!!  I’m happy for them, their fans, and The Bronx.   Coming up from under – that always thrills me.  It’s in sync with the Bronx spirit.

Have a safe and fun Halloween.  🎃

  3. Love, Laughter, & Poetry

    Thursday, October 17, 2024

Glad to say I’ve had several affection sessions recently with my feline girlfriend, Mustache.  When it’s been a few days without a visit, I miss her.  I miss pure, four-legged, furry love.  So when we see each other, it’s intense.  She’s talking up a storm (in cat talk), and I tell her, “I know.  I missed you too.  I come here and wonder where’s Mustache?  The worker who doesn’t like me probably feels nauseous when he hears us.  LOL  The owner and son of the owner appreciate my loving relationship with Mustache, so the negative guy can go … be with himself.

When I performed in Paul Hallasy’s fundraiser for Kamala comedy show at Pangea last month, I was so fortunate that more people, who I invited, attended than I expected, and one of them, Cicely Brooks, shared a bit of video she took.  Here it is:

Between several poetry pals and the Bronx Council on the Arts, my evenings have been enriched with zoom workshops and classes (memoir and poetry).  And it is thanks to friends that I have a mic and camera which allows me to participate.  It is so uplifting to my spirit.

    Upcoming events:

Saturday, Oct. 26th at 7pm – Dance of the Word – produced by Evie Ivy.  There will be poetry, music, belly dancing, wine, light fare.  353 Studios, Studio 1, 353 W. 48thSt., 2nd fl. A train to 42nd St., 44th St. exit, or E to 50th St. Join us for a fun evening. $15 at the door. Refreshments, wine and cheese, etc. I'll be sharing poetry.

Sunday, Oct. 27th at 1pm – Artemis – produced by Diana Gitesha Hernandez. Reading series at One + One, Nexus Lounge, 76 1st Street (off 1st Avenue), NYC.  I’ll be one of the features sharing poetry.  $5 donation and 1 drink minimum.

Saturday, Nov. 2nd at 9pm – Eat Drink Laugh – another fundraiser for Kamala’s campaign comedy show!  Produced by Paul Hallasy.  Ticket sales for this show go to Act Blue.  Pangea, 178 2nd Avenue, NYC.

Hi folks.  As an actress, I’ve been going for paid work even if it is background work.  I need money.  One job I did that wasn’t paying much hasn’t paid at all.  I’ve been pursuing them and would hate to have to go to small claims court, but I will if I have to because I wasn’t volunteering my time.  If I’m going to volunteer anywhere, it would be for a shelter (for un-homed people or animals).  Another background gig that was paying more than 3 times that amount promised to pay on the same day in a check.  They paid us the same day in CASH!  That kept me going for almost a week.  As far as the one that didn’t pay yet, I’ve imagined myself on Judge Judy.  I have documentation.  She’d be done with us in 3 minutes.

People who act like this either don’t realize or just don’t care that the money for me means groceries and being able to afford the laundromat.  It’s not a joke.

But speaking of jokes and much laughter, I’m in a fundraiser comedy show this Thursday at 9pm at Pangea, 178 Second Avenue, NYC.  It’s the Eat Drink Laugh show produced by Paul Hallasy.  All ticket sales will be donated to Kamala’s campaign.  (Separately, Pangea has a $20 minimum – food and/or drink.)  Food is very good.  Laughter is guaranteed.  There will be about 10 comics performing.  Advance tickets are less costly than paying at the show.

    Advance tickets

Then on September 20th, I’m having my Almost Fall Comedy Show at The Artist on City Island at 8pm.  Mark your calendars.  Details in the next blog …

  5. Come Get Tickled

    Wednesday, August 14, 2024

Evie Ivy’s poetry reading at the Green Pavilion on 7/31/2024 was a great experience.  When I write poetry, I’m not trying to be funny, but sometimes it comes out funny.  People who attend poetry readings are not expecting funny, so when it happens, they are really laughing hard.  There was so much laughter in response to some of my stuff.  I wish I could get those folks to a comedy show.

I loved hearing my co-features for the first time in person.  Unfortunately, I was late and missed many of the open-mic-ers.

Me with co-features Prince A. McNally and Jim Hart and curator and host Evie Ivy:

A former office-mate, Bernie, surprised me and attended the reading.  That felt good.

    Selected photos from the reading:

I heard a couple of minutes of Kamala’s VP pick’s first speech, and I felt hopeful.  Fingers crossed.  So far, I think she made a very intelligent choice.

On Thursday, September 5th at 9pm, at Pangea, 178 Second Avenue, NYC., I’m part of a wonderful comedy show fundraiser for Kamala Harris.  The hilarious Paul Hallasy produces and hosts this show, EAT DRINK LAUGH, and I’m glad he decided to make September 5th a fundraiser because I can’t contribute financially any other way at this time.

    Tickets

All ticket sales will be donated to Kamala Harris’ campaign. Only ten bucks! ($20 minimum food/drink)  Laughter is guaranteed!  Would be nice to see you and hear you laughing.

  6. Eventually I Do Find the Funny

    Tuesday, July 30, 2024

People, I’m featuring along with two very talented writers on Wednesday, July 31st at 7pm at the Green Pavilion.  Here’s the info from Evie Ivy:

    Short bios:*

Prince A. His work has appeared in numerous publications across the U.S. and abroad. He has been nominated for Best of The Net, and the Pushcart Poetry Prize.

Even if you don’t enjoy much poetry, I do believe you will enjoy this experience.  Though you are invited to bring something to the open mic, feel free to just sit back, have a bite or a drink, and be an enthusiastic listener.

I recently had a very positive dream with me and my son.  It was the most hopeful experience I’ve had in a while.  I love that person, always have and always will.  ❤❤❤

On another positive note, I was invited to perform my stand-up at a comedy show which will be a fundraiser for Kamala Harris.  I haven’t had spare dollars to donate anywhere in years, so at least this is something I can do.  If Trump and Vance get in, this country does not deserve women.

Maybe, as a comic, I’ll eventually find the funny in that, but I’m not anywhere near that point now.  My path to funny takes a while.

  7. Bubbling

    Friday, August 14, 2020

I am bubbling with appreciation.  After my last blog entry, a former colleague (who works in a partner program from where I worked) told me he enjoyed the blogs and wanted to send me some money as a “subscription fee.”  He seemed to be concerned about my feelings about being offered money.  I felt bad that he was concerned I might be insulted.  I’m not.  He has always been kind to me, and there’s no reason for me to have mixed feelings about his generosity.  I know the difference.  I’ve received monetary gifts from those who want my silence and from those who just want to feel good about themselves.  There’s a huge difference when someone just wants to help me out.  It’s pure.

Joe Biden selected Kamala Harris as VP.  She wasn’t my first choice, but I think  they are a good balance.  A friend once described her as an ass-kicker.  She is.  They won’t be calling her “Sleepy Kamala.”  And she must scare the SHIT out of the orange one.  Biden and Harris have my support.  People, please put aside your specific preferences and vote for Biden.  Puh-leese.  Neither Biden nor Harris would have ruined thousands of children’s lives by separating them from their parents and losing them to be trafficked to a Jeffrey Epstein-type island.

I’m sorry if many of you feel like you have to choose the lesser evil, but please do.  PLEASE.  I don’t think I can bear any more torment by a malignant narcissist.  I’ve painfully learned how dangerous they can be even when not in charge of a country.  It’s no joke.  They have no bottom in terms of how low they are willing to go.  They are willing to F up their own children.  I’ve seen it up close and personal.  My heart is torn over personal narcissistic damage, not just to me but to my dearest loved ones.

Narcissists proudly leave a path of destruction.  I’ve learned that the terribly hard way.

Regarding the pandemic, I’m not in the position of having a school-aged child at this time.  I consider myself lucky not to have to handle parenthood in a pandemic.  I’m sure it would be a very challenging time for all.  But I doubt I would risk his life by sending him to school next month.  My son was always more important to me than money.  I wish Trump felt the same.

I’m gratefully attending a poetry workshop on line.  It’s one I’d been attending in person for some years on and off when I was able to.  They took it to Zoom during this pandemic.  My computer has no webcam or mic, but the workshop leader, David Elsasser (Happy birthday, David), makes it work for me anyway.  I am truly grateful.  I send him my poem and he screen-shares it.  After all the feedback, we speak on the phone and he puts me on speaker.  He makes it all work out.  It is truly one of the highlights of my week.

I’d been working on a poem addressing the women who act like I’m after their husbands.  It was nuts at one of my previous jobs regarding that.  And even up the block where a woman whose man is a drug dealer seemed to think that.  I was like are you fucking kidding me?  I wanted none of them.  So it was long due for a poem.

I was concerned if the poetry workshop folks would get what I’m saying, but they didn’t let me down. ❤💗❤

I look forward to returning to comedy again.  I hope I’m still funny.

I just learned a film I acted in several years back is now released and going world-wide!!!  I hope I get discovered by someone in a position to change my financial situation.  I played a substitute teacher.  The director was a lovely man to work with -- Abdu Dandridge.  The film, PRESSURE, is available for rent or purchase.

Big love to CGG-M every day.  💕💕💕💕
